Teamwork makes the dream work

We had over 20 students volunteer their time to assemble and paint 6 raised beds for the school garden! These students were able to work together and problem solve to use their time in the most efficient way possible. It took less than 2 hours for the raised beds to be assembled and beautifully painted! I'm continually surprised at how hardworking and determined they truly are. Some of the wooden slats for the rectangle beds got mixed in within the octagon bed, we were missing some tools, but managed to work through them and most importantly have fun!

We chose raised beds that were at least 18 inches high to deter rodents from climbing inside. City rats are a huge problem and we definitely don't want them anywhere near the school garden. The students will be able to grow fresh herbs and vegetables in the the raised beds!
